History
A brief history of Simon's Cat.
Simon got his first cat, Shelley, when he was 8, and a cat lover
was born! Growing up Simon was always drawing, he fell in love
with nature while copying wildlife illustrations from books. His
first drawings were often of animals, birds and dinosaurs.
Whilst learning a new animation software Adobe Flash, Simon decided to create a short film about his then cat Hugh and his insistent wake up calls, that little film went on to become Cat Man Do! After uploading it on what was then a relatively new website - YouTube, this simple short film went viral and the Simon's Cat sensation was born.
After the second film 'Let Me In' was released, Simon's Cat LTD
was incorporated, Simon realised then this was the beginning of
a new chapter!
A major milestone for Simon was realising one of his dreams to
create his own book. It helped shape the Simon's Cat universe
and allowed Simon to expand his creative vision.
The channel kept growing, and along with it, the Simon's Cat
production crew!
The first one million YouTube subscribers was reached. This
showed us that people loved the mischievous adventures of this
hungry cat, as much as we did.
The crowdfunding campaign to create our colour film Off to the
Vet was a huge moment for the brand, it really showed us the
amount of support for Simon's Cat, we were overwhelmed by the
eventual success of the whole project. Off to the Vet has since
been released on our YouTube channel and has become one of our
most popular films.
Expanding the Simon's Cat universe with a new mobile game.
Collaborating with Tactile Games, Crunch Time was the
first in a series of fun games to be released.
A momentous occasion that was celebrated with a big party with
fans, friends and fellow YouTubers.
Who would have thought that Cat Man Do was only the beginning?! A hundred films later and still going strong.
